Job Description: Chief Technology Officer
The position of Chief Technology Officer (CTO) is the company's head of technology and is responsible for establishing the company's technical vision as well as leading all areas of the company's technology development and operations. The CTO will report directly to the President of Command Post Technologies (CPT) and be the key executive responsible for the company's strategic direction, development, and expansion; system-wide technological support, design and management; web development and management; and data security. The CTO will also serve as the primary liaison for management to ensure that CPT runs effectively and efficiently in its day-to-day operations and in providing excellent service in the support of its clients.
Responsibilities
- The CTO will provide the President with a strategic plan that aligns the IT vision of the overall business strategy of the company to include infrastructure/operations, client service and support, and IT planning geared toward marketing and development. The plan will identify technology applications and resources to support current and future technological needs.
- The CTO will devise and implement an Information Technology (IT) framework for technology procedures and practices and manage IT infrastructure encompassing all of CPT's computers, servers, computer peripherals, telecommunications systems, Internet connectivity networks, and software applications.
- The CTO will serve as technology consultant and liaison with management on all technology matters to include: answering questions, evaluating needs, monitoring service and interdepartmental impacts, troubleshooting and advising on problems, encouraging technology education, and ensuring smooth conversion to existing or new and improved computerized systems.
- The CTO will lead all aspects of hardware, network and telecom development and act as the key software architect and database administrator. The CTO will also establish technical standards and ensure adherence to them in product development and company operations. In addition, the CTO will develop assessment and evaluation tools to measure progress toward goals and overall impact.
- The CTO will be the lead for execution of technology strategy for technology platforms, systems integration, partnerships and external relationships. The CTO must ensure that CPT is on the leading edge of technology changes as it relates to operations and competitive positioning. The CTO will keep abreast of state-of-the -art technology developments through attendance at trade and professional meetings and seminars, trade shows and through research. The CTO will also attend meetings with clients and others as needed.
- The CTO will deal with all IT vendors, suppliers and outsourcing agencies and will provide cost and contracts analysis.
- As the company expands, the CTO will build and manage CPT's technology team; oversee research and development and project management; and mentor and champion staff development and growth in improving communications, operations, collaboration and coordination in working towards company goals.
Requirements
Bachelors Degree in Computer Science from an accredited college or university or alternate work experience required.
Graduate degree in Technology, Computer or Information Science is preferred.
Leadership experience (5-8 years) in managing one or more major information processing functions as well as proven responsibility and interdisciplinary approaches to problem solving and decision making.
Proven experience in building an effective technology infrastructure for a multi-location company.
Excellent leadership, interpersonal and communications skills. Must be skilled at writing and developing presentations.
Demonstrated ability and experience in interpreting technology and market trends.
Ability to operate (diagnose, isolate, troubleshoot and fix technical issues) under pressure in a fast paced environment. Also must be able to work independently.
